Valiant Efforts on Both Flanks

” He had barely gotten the words from his young lungs when a Rebel musket ball hit him in
the neck killing him instantly.
Thanks to the valiant efforts by the Union, forces on both flanks the Rebels were repulsed and
fled in retreat with some 400 of their compatriots captured in the confrontation.
The Union forces advanced and closed the gaping hole in the defensive position and the Union
line was finally secured.
“They can conquer who believe they can.”
