There were no blue coats defending the rocky position with the exception of a few signalmen

detached to the high position.

If they Rebs took the position, the battle would be an irretrievable loss for the Yankees.

General Warren, Chief Engineer of the Army of the Potomac was the officer who was with the

small detachment of signalmen on Little Roundtop that fated day.
