Strong Vincent formed a defensive line with four regiments just as Hood’s Rebels came
rushing up the valley with their bloodcurdling Rebel yells.
The Confederates were caught somewhat off guard as the Yankees poured he lead to em’ from
the cover of the ragged boulders.
The Rebel’s split and headed for the flanks as they did that Hazlett’s batteries at the pinnacle of
the knoll opened up with murderous cannon fire.
