Lottie of course could not restrain herself from furthering her role as a Copperhead. By gaining access to Camp Chase where she believed her brother Bob was being held prisoner. She was able to get into the prison through connections Judge Clark had with Ohio Governor Tod.
Although she did not find her brother at Camp Chase, she did see many friends and acquaintances. She was appalled at the conditions in which the prisoners were forced to be remanded. Lottie spread the word to the world and crusaded to change the horrid conditions.
It would not be long until Lottie become more than the "Florence Nightingale of Camp Chase!"
She would take a dangerous step into the world of deceit and draw on her acting skills to aid the Confederate cause!
"Charm is almost as poor a butter for parsnips as good intentions."
