Even after Ol’ Button Burnside was left at the altar the beguiling, beauty convinced him that it was all in fun and he became her suitor once again.
Well that is him and twelve other paramours to whom she wooed at one time. One of these was a young man named Jim Clark she wooed him in a particularly strange circumstance. Clark was returning to town in a stagecoach, Lottie had a friend who was driving the rig, and she arranged with him for her to take over the reins. She drove the coach like a mad woman through the town till she reached the carriage house then bringing the coach to a sudden stop. As the passengers lit from the coach all glaring at her with utter disdain she paid not a mind to them waiting for Jim Clark to exit the coach as he did he said to Lottie “I am so glad you took the reins my dear I was in a hurry, Thanks for keeping me from being late.
As they say, the rest is history. Clark went on to become a Judge and to become betrothed to lovely loony Lottie. As the time of they marriage ceremony approached, Clark knew about the jilting of Button. When the star crossed pair met to descend the staircase for the wedding Clark showed his fiancé a small pistol secreted in his hand and told the woman he loved that, ”There is going to being a wedding night this day or a funeral tomorrow!” With that, the two were married!
