I trust ya'll have had a Great week and are now enjoying the weekend. I'll be holding off on the Opium Investigation for the Josiah tale for several posts. I hope you all enjoy the tale.

This tale is from the Iron Springs Area near Fairfield PA. It is a tale of friendship, jealousy, hatred, murder and ultimately the last hanging in Adams County.
As the tale goes; two young men shared a small abode near the sporadic little settlement of shacks known as Iron Springs. The men were Immanuel Monn and Henry Heist, the men cut and sold firewood on the half, certainly a hard put existence given that was in the days afore chainsaws and such. Sharp axes, crosscut saws, and lots of backbreaking work were the tools of the trade in that era. One day when the snow was covering the ground a horrid and bloody discovery was made by a local man as he walked along the creek that ran through the little shanty town. …………….
