The young rebel died but according to the tale as I have heard his spirit did not!
It is said that his troubled and tortured face is the one seen pressing  against various windows in the Steinwehr Avenue area of Gettysburg, PA.

Another tale of the same young trooper is that he will appear out of no where and be in the road in front of your car the car will pass right through his bloody body. This coming week before All Hallows Eve is said to be when he can be seen. Some folks have said to hear him wailing as though he is calling to his long lost love.

 The sad tale of love lost is made even sadder by the fact that the young woman of his dreams whom he had hoped to become betrothed to was not of the same devotion as the young Rebel soldier because it was not longer after the young starry eyed boy left for war she married another southern boy who in her her word did not traipse off to be killed by war.

So if you are out and about in Gettysburg during this week be aware of this young rebel wailing and peeking and trying to give a start to folks.

There is another time when the young Rebel soul is also out and about more on that later. Can you guess when that other time of the year is?
